Brenna, owner and maker, with Tesla her service dog

Welcome to my little corner of the internet, I’ll be your host MissBrennaBees or more often as I go behind the scenes Brenna or Bee. I run my little business from my home in the Midwest with my rescue canine counterpart, Tesla. I have lived my entire life surrounded by 3 things that have greatly inspired my business: art, animals, and chronic illness. Living with disabilities led me down the path of finding a non-traditional way of making some revenue. So, in 2017 I decided to open an Etsy shop to start selling hand painted resin pins I had been making as a hobby. In 2019 I decided if I was going to keep this business open, I was going to do it full time and I was going to do it right.

During this same time, my chronic conditions were progressively getting worse and I officially got the go ahead to start the process of getting a service dog. Tesla was adopted in December of 2018 from our local humane society, she had a torn ACL and a scabbed-up face, but a constant wagging tail and smile. It wasn’t long before we realized she was naturally alerting to medical episodes I was having and we had her evaluated for service work, and she passed with flying colors! Shortly after that we began fundraising and training. One goal that I wanted for us as a team was a cohesive aesthetic, so all of her service dog gear matched with my wardrobe.

Extra… I know, but as an alternative fashion enthusiast (in styles like grunge, punk, and vintage, as well as ethically speaking, like sustainability and accessibility) I could not find the kind of dog apparel that matched what I was looking for. Which is exactly why I decided to start making it. Cohesive collections of matching sets for the person and the animal are exactly what I set out to bring to the table. Including items with multiple uses like my tie-on bandana which can be worn by your animal companion or by yourself in your hair or as a neck scarf. I have taken a lot of inspiration from my own past aesthetics and translated them into accessories that can be worn throughout multiple styles.

Everything in my shop is handmade. I do a lot of trial and error to create the best product and the most cohesive collections for you guys! One of my favorite things about making these items is that I get to pour myself into the entire process from sketching out ideas, choosing fabric and trims, to writing handwritten notes that I ship to you! The biggest thing that I am working hard towards is a more sustainable business so that buying from me is good for you AND the environment!
